How to Make

Ingredients

1 cup smooth peanut butter
½ cup honey
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups quick oats
2 ½ cups crisped rice cereal
¼ cup mini chocolate chips
Cooking spray
WIC Tip: Never feed honey to a child under one year of age.

Preparation

  1. Combine peanut butter, honey, salt and cinnamon in a small pot.
  2. Cook on low heat and stir with a spoon until combined and smooth, remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine oats and crisped rice cereal.
  4. Add peanut butter mixture into the bowl with the dry cereal and mix until well combined.
  5. Spray a 9 x 13” dish with cooking spray and pour the mixture in it.
  6. Press the mixture evenly across the entire pan and use your hands or a spatula to press it down tightly. Tip: Try using a parchment paper sheet over the top to press the mixture down without getting your fingers sticky.
  7. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and press down lightly.
  8. Cover with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for three hours or until firm.
  9. Cut into 32 bars, and store in the refrigerator for a quick snack that lasts all week.
